Sérgio Vieira – Introspective Landscapes (2020)

Brazilian drummer and composer, Sérgio Vieira releases his new effort in 2020: Introspective Landscapes. With an improvisational and experimental character, the album was recorded in Oporto (Portugal), where the musician currently lives since 2017.

The album has seven tracks where Vieira moves between the elements and concepts of avant-garde music, and projects the drums to the front as a solo instrument.

“I’ve developed this process for several years, always with search, reflections and explorations of concepts, sounds and atmospheres. It’s a huge challenge to record a full album playing solo with an instrument always viewed as accompanist.”

There’s something audacious in any artistic process. Nuisance, dissatisfaction and want are words that are part of the abstract environment that make up a creative process. The real time creation (using improvisation as tool) can’t be anything other than embrace the danger, as Bukowski said when tried to define what art means.
Undoubtedly, musical experimentation offers unimaginable spectra and sound environments, and in addition to the direct listening experience, the complex plural field that adds up, for example, the musical performance with literature and the visual arts demands from the appreciator a much greater involvement with the artist and the work.

Introspective Landscapes transports us to a deeply intimate and exploratory perspective where the listener can create their own appreciation experience, being invited to put themselves in danger along with Sérgio Vieira's audacious performance.
